About Us
By the Way Free Clinic opened its doors to serve the most vulnerable in need of healthcare in Fairfield County on September 16, 2008. Since then, the clinic has served over 2000 patients from Lancaster and five surrounding counties.
Opening such a clinic had been on the hearts of Dr. Mike McAnallen and Mrs. Tina Anderson. They called together others in the community who shared their vision, to assist them in bringing a free clinic to life. The clinic, named for the story of the Good Samaritan in the Bible, is faith based, and provides free, quality medical care in addition to prescription education, prayer and hospitality to its visitors.
The Clinic is staffed by local physicians, nurses, paramedics, medical assistants, hospitality and administrative volunteers. Partnering with our on-site volunteers is an extensive network of care resources including a local dentist and optometrist.
The Clinic is a member of The Charitable Healthcare Network, The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, and receives support from Fairfield County United Way, the Fairfield County Foundation, local churches, social service agencies, Fairfield Medical Center, private businesses and individuals.
Each volunteer's heart is to serve and each clinic we work to achieve the best outcome for every patient that visits By The Way.

In Remembrance of Dr. Henry Hood
Our history would not be complete without acknowledging our founding Medical Director, Dr. Henry Hood. A retired orthopedic surgeon, Henry's love for his community is well known, and we were blessed to have him with us for 10 years! With his passing in 2019, we lost a servant who traveled the world with the International Medical Corps and served with us at By The Way. We miss his presence and hold his memory with us.
